SkipScore — Privacy Policy
SkipScore is an independent, third-party tool. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Netflix, Inc. "Netflix" is a trademark of Netflix, Inc.
SkipScore is a browser extension that overlays a worth-watching score on titles you browse on Netflix. This policy explains exactly what the extension does and does not collect.
What we do NOT collect
- We do not collect, store, or transmit your Netflix watch history, search queries, recommendations, or any Netflix account information or login.
- Scores are matched locally on your device from a database bundled inside the extension. We do not log, store, or transmit your watch history, viewing sessions, or which titles you choose to watch.
- No analytics, no advertising, no third-party trackers. We never sell or share data for marketing.
What we DO collect
- Install ID. On first run the extension generates a random identifier (UUID v4) on your device. It is not linked to your name, email, or Netflix account. It is sent to our server (a Cloudflare Worker) for one purpose only: to check whether this installation has purchased SkipScore Pro.
- Catalog updates — title lookup (on by default). For a title that is not in the database bundled with the extension, SkipScore sends just that title's name and year to our server (a Cloudflare Worker) to fetch a score. The request carries no identifier and is not linked to your Install ID or Netflix account, and the title is not stored against you. You can turn this off any time with the Catalog updates toggle in the popup's Privacy section; Local-only mode disables it and every other network request.
- Wrong-match report (only when you tap it). Each score shows which catalog title it was matched to. If that match looks wrong, you can tap Wrong match? to tell us. Only then does SkipScore send the matched title, the page's web address (URL) and the browser tab title to our server (a Cloudflare Worker) so we can correct the match. The report carries no identifier and is never linked to your Install ID or Netflix account. Nothing is sent unless you tap the button, and Local-only mode disables it entirely.
- Purchase information (via Stripe). When you buy Pro, payment is handled by Stripe in a separate checkout page. Stripe collects your email and payment details under Stripe's own privacy policy. We never receive or store your card number. We store only the Stripe identifiers needed to confirm your one-time purchase, linked to your Install ID.
- Local settings & feedback. Your preferences and any feedback you submit in the extension are stored locally on your device (
chrome.storage) and are not transmitted to us. If Chrome Sync is enabled, your settings and purchase status may sync across your own Chrome profile via Google.
Permissions and why
storage — save your settings and purchase (Pro) status.
scripting / activeTab — inject the score overlay onto Netflix pages.
- host
https://www.netflix.com/* — read on-page title text to match it against the local database. Matching happens in your browser; a title only leaves your device in the two cases above (Catalog updates, and a Wrong-match report you tap).
- host the SkipScore worker — send your Install ID to verify your purchase.
Third parties
Data retention and deletion
Your Install ID and purchase record are kept while your Pro purchase is active so the extension can keep recognizing it. To request deletion of your purchase record, email geschaeftlich.schlueter@gmail.com. Uninstalling the extension removes all local data from your device.
Children
SkipScore is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from them.
Changes
We may update this policy. Material changes will be reflected by a new effective date at the top of this page.
